FB Update: 11/24/13

Dallin's FB update from 11/24/13.

Hello everyone!

Today, November 24th is a very special day for Amy and I. It’s the most wonderful day I have ever had and ever will have. It’s the day Amy and I got married for time and all eternity and became a family. It has been one year and what a year it has been. I remember us talking about how wonderful 2013 will be, and how it will be our first year being married. Who would have thought on our 1-year anniversary we would be 33 weeks pregnant- we love that we are and it is so exciting. We cannot wait for our little man to arrive in January. Also what we didn’t know is 6 months down the road from the wedding one of us will be lying in a coma struggling to stay alive. We do know that if I would have passed from this life in this accident we would still be married because we were married in a temple forever and the term “till death do you part” does not apply here. This first year has had some of the most wonderful memories and happiest moments we have ever had yet also has had some of the most difficult trials and moments we have ever had. This year is a year of learning. I always thought I would love my wife so much, but that love I thought I would feel for Amy is just a fraction of the real love I really feel for her. Brad Paisley puts it well in his song titled “Then” where he describes how the love grows every single day. It’s a great song that we love to sing to each other. It’s a wonderful life; yes we might get severe brain shearing but the things really important in my life I still have, that is my family. It is true no matter where life takes us, if we are together; It is a wonderful life.

CTN Farmer's Market

Dallin has been participating in a therapy called Vocational group. The purpose of the therapy is the help patients prepare for returning to work by placing them in a "mock" job situation. It's a group therapy with many patients participating together. Their job was to pick something to make to sell at a Farmer's Market that was benefitting Rehab Without Walls. (Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Survivors)

They picked cards and bookmarks. A lot went into deciding how to go about the project. Over the course of a couple months they decided what designs for the cards and bookmarks, what quotes to put on the bookmarks, how much to make, how much money to sell them for, etc. Dallin did extremely well and it was fun to go to the market.

My handsome man!

Along with cards and bookmarks they made pumpkin bread and cookies! Yum!

Thanksgiving Pie Surprise

I realize more and more everyday what a lucky gal I am. Dallin beat me back to the hotel after his therapy and I came home (yes, we call that hotel room home) to find a sweet surprise.

A pie and ice cream just for us. He made it at CTN as apart of Occupational Therapy.  What a sweet man. :)

It was delicious!

Back to College

First Day Back to School!

Everything was finally all sorted out so Dallin could start his online math class at Rio Salado. We (Dallin especially) have been anxiously awaiting his chance to start and see how he does. Thankfully, Vocational Rehab for the State of Arizona is funding not only his CTN therapy, but also any classes that he will take during his participation. They have been amazing to work with and have an incredible program.

I thought when I went to go pick up Dallin's math book, I'd surprise him with some school gear! He is ready!

Just a couple of short months ago we weren't sure if going back to school would even be possible. Dallin is eager to prove to his therapists and to himself that he can do this! I know he can.
